Some Screens from Ocarina of Time for the 3DS

Over at Gamesradar, Chris Antista has a great series of side by side screen shots comparing the old Ocarina of Time with the new 3DS version.  You can see the rest of them over at the site.  But one thing that caught my eye was the stark contrast between the Deku Forest in both versions:

Above: Kokiri Village has been overhauled substantially

Above: Now that's a place you wanna live!

Above: The Great Deku Tree's mouth looks even more inviting

Above: Even his death becomes more lavish!

I'll note first that the transformation is pretty stunning, and more impressive than I would have thought. So for anyone on the fence about getting the 3DS remake because you thought not much would change, I'd give it a second look.

That said, and while stressing that the new version looks gorgeous so far, I have to say there was something about the old foggy version of the OoT forest that always stuck with me.  Even the first time around, Nintendo did a great job of making the forest feel alive with bugs flying, pollen falling, and things going on all around.

At the time, the fog set over the background was part of the limitations of what Nintendo could accomplish graphically, but looking back I think it served to give the atmosphere of that one portion of the game a forboding flare that is lost with the sharper textures and higher res.

Eitherway, thought I'd share these before hitting the sack.  hope you guys enjoy!
